Highway 41 Crash Involving Truck Near Cholame
SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2021) — A multi-vehicle Highway 41 crash happened Tuesday on Highway 41, near Cholame and just east of Shandon in San Luis Obispo county.
The California Highway Patrol reported the collision about 6:06 a.m. on Oct. 5th, north of Highway 46 and the north of the “Y” intersection and the James Dean Memorial.
A semi-truck reportedly crossed over into the path of a black Honda Accord and another vehicle, police said. The truck wound up about 100 feet down an embankment into a ravine on the northbound side of the highway.
Police closed down Highway 41 in both directions due to the collision involving the truck, the Honda and possibly, a third vehicle, according to Caltrans.
Paramedics responded to help those hurt in the crash. The driver in the Honda had complaints of back pain.
The California Highway Patrol is redirecting motorists to alternative routes between Highway 33 and Highway 46 East.
Tow trucks removed both the Honda and the semi-truck from the crash scene.
Investigators seek to determine liability for the collision.
