CHULA VISTA, California (April 7, 2016) — The driver of a big rig truck allegedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with four other motorists Thursday afternoon on the northbound Interstate 805 Freeway at H Street, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The injury crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. today. The semi-tractor trailer truck sandwiched a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck between itself and the guardrail of the freeway, but the occupants of the smaller truck managed to get out following the crash. A gray SUV was also involved in the crash which took place over several lanes including the fast and HOV lanes.
Paramedics responded to help those injured, but there doesn’t appear to be any life-threatening injuries involved. The motorcycle rider was up, but had visible road rash and was treated for minor injuries. It’s not clear if he or she suffered any other injuries. A SigAlert was issued for at least an hour due to multiple lanes being blocked.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but the CHP report indicated the big rig truck driver was likely liable.
