Truck Overturns on I-238 Near Mission Blvd., in Ashland, Alameda County

Big Rig Truck, Jeep Collide on I-238 South, North of Hayward
ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif., (April 13, 2026) — A major injury crash involving an overturned big rig truck happened Monday on the Interstate 238 Freeway, just north of Mission Boulevard in the Ashland area north of Hayward in Alameda County.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident on April 13th around 3:44 p.m., when a red Jeep SUV collided with a big rig, causing the truck to overturn and block the southbound numbers three and four lanes. Emergency responders, including fire crews, were dispatched to the scene and worked to address the overturned vehicle. The incident was reported as a major injury collision.
Traffic was severely impacted as a result of the accident, prompting the issuance of a SigAlert to inform motorists of substantial delays and advise them to seek alternate routes. Responders eventually reopened all lanes by 6:23 p.m. after removing the vehicles involved. The Jeep sustained significant front-end damage in the collision.
The CHP is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision and is seeking any witnesses to come forward with information.
