TRUCKEE (April 10, 2017)- According to the Sacramento Bee, a deadly accident took place Saturday evening resulting in the death of a man identified as Steve Holmes involving a California Highway Patrol officer on eastbound Interstate 80.
The incident took place at around 7:30 p.m. where a charter bus driver, Steven Holmes, had pulled over the bus to assist with a motorist who had lost control of their vehicle causing it to overturn. Steve Holmes had been placing reflective triangles throughout the road alerting drivers of the accident.
A CHP officer arrived at the scene a short while later and exited his car to gather details to determine what exactly happened leading up to the initial collision. Moments later, the CHP officer got back into his vehicle and went into reverse in order to block off a lane, however, as he backed up he struck Holmes.
Steve Holmes suffered major injuries and was rushed to Renown Hospital located in the city of Reno in Nevada. He sadly died a short while later after his admittance.
No further details have been released at this time.
