Trudy Barraza Killed in Crash on Highway 58, Fairfax Road in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 24, 2026) — Trudy Joyce Barraza, 75, of Bakersfield, was killed on Thursday in a car accident on State Route 58, just east of Fairfax Road in Bakersfield.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim who was seated in the front passenger seat of a vehicle involved in a two-vehicle collision around 11:34 p.m. on August 20th, 2026. The California Highway Patrol reported that a trash can fell off a pickup truck and landed in the roadway. The debris fell off the truck and the vehicle she was riding in was rear-ended by another vehicle.
Paramedics responded, but Trudy Barraza unfortunately died on scene. The family of Trudy Barraza is raising money with a GoFundMe to cover her funeral costs.
The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation to determine fault.
