Bicycle Rider Seriously Injured in Tustin Crash at Irvine and Brittany Woods

TUSTIN, CA (March 12, 2023) – A bicycle rider was seriously injured after a crash at Irvine Boulevard and Brittany Woods Drive in Tustin.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the wreck on March 12 at around 5:49 p.m.

CHP said the incident happened when a black Ford SUV struck the bicycle rider for an unknown reason in North Tustin. The car hit the bicyclist at the intersection of Irvine Boulevard and Brittany Woods Drive.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found the cyclist down on the ground. The patient ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the Orange County Global Medical Center for treatment of a broken leg. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the SUV stopped or stayed at the site after colliding with the bike. Officers forced the area of Irvine and Brittany Woods to shut down following the wreck.

The cause of the Tustin bicycle crash is still under investigation.
