1 Killed in Tustin Fatal Crash on 55 Freeway and 5 Freeway Connector

TUSTIN, CA (October 2, 2022) – A wrong-way crash killed a person on the 55 Freeway and the 5 Freeway connector ramp in Tustin.

According to The Orange County Register and FOX 11 News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:10 a.m.

The incident began when a driver was traveling north on the southbound 55 freeway near the 5 Freeway in Tustin.

Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car

After some time, a white Toyota Prius and a Subaru Outback collided head-on on the connector from the southbound 55 to the southbound 5 freeway.

The California Highway Patrol said both cars obtained major front-end damage due to the impact of the collision. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.

Medical personnel confirmed that one driver died as a result of the accident. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, CHP forced the 55 Freeway and the 5 Freeway transition to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Tustin crash is still under investigation.
