Two Bicyclists Killed by Alleged DUI Driver on Kingsley Street in Montclair

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2026) — Two people are dead after an alleged drunk driver plowed into a group of bicyclists Saturday night on Kingsley Street in Montclair.

At least two others were injured in the crash around 10:39 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24th, near Tudor Avenue, according to the Montclair Police Department.

A group of about 30 cyclists was out on a pre-Halloween ride traveling eastbound on Kingsley Street when the driver of a 2021 Honda Accord traveling westbound crashed into several people on bikes. The motorist, identified as Valentin Alberto Rodriguez, 38, struck at least two people and dragged one of them for roughly a mile. The suspect fled the scene, but was found at his home near the crash site and arrested around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Paramedics responded and a 25-year-old man was confirmed dead at the scene. Meanwhile, two others were hospitalized with major injuries. One of those taken to the hospital, described as a 30-year-old woman, later died from her injuries around 1:19 a.m. on Sunday. Meanwhile, a fourth person suffered a head laceration, but was not taken to the hospital.

The suspect was booked into the West Valley Detention Center and faces multiple charges: Vehicle Code § 23153(a): Driving under the influence and causing injury or death. Vehicle Code § 23153(b): Driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher and causing injury or death.
Vehicle Code § 20001(b)(2): Felony hit-and-run involving death or permanent, serious injury. Penal Code § 191.5(a): Gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Finally, the identities of those who died will be released after relatives are notified.
