2 Dead, 1 Hospitalized in Collision on E. Clark Ave
ORCUTT, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2024) — Two people died following a three-vehicle crash on East Clark Avenue, just east of Presquile Road near Orcutt.
A third person was badly injured in the multi-vehicle collision that occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 16th, according to Noozhawk.
The drivers of a 2007 Honda Fit, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and a 2018 Ram pickup truck were involved.
Three people in the Honda Fit were headed eastbound on Clark Avenue. The car stopped in traffic lanes to make a left-hand turn, however, it was rear-ended by the Silverado pickup truck driven by Andres Perez of Santa Maria.
Upon impact, the Honda was pushed into oncoming traffic and hit broadside by the westbound Ram pickup truck driven by Hermenegildo Villegas Ramirez of Santa Maria.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to the 2600 block of East Clark Avenue where they located several people trapped in the Honda.
Firefighters extricated those who were trapped in the wreckage, but one passenger from the Honda died at the scene.
Paramedics transported the Honda’s driver to Marian Regional Medical Center, but he also died from his injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, a backseat passenger from the Honda was hospitalized and remains in critical condition.
Authorities did not identify the two people who died or the one who was hospitalized, but all three are from Santa Maria.
There were no other injuries reported from the other two vehicles and the case remains under investigation, but alcohol was ruled out as a factor.
