Two Killed in El Cajon Crash on Interstate 8 Freeway on Memorial Day

EL CAJON, Calif. (May 26, 2026) — Two people died early Monday in a crash on the Interstate 8 Freeway in El Cajon, near Mollison Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP reported the collision around 3:27 a.m. on May 25th in the westbound lanes of the Interstate 8 Freeway after a white vehicle went down an embankment and became engulfed in flames.

Two people were trapped in the vehicle and both of them were pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s unknown what caused the collision, but investigators are working on the case.
