Two Killed in Mecca Crash at Grant Street and 68th Avenue Identified
Woman, 52, Man, 55, Die in Violent Collision
MECCA, Calif. (March 10, 2025) – Yolanda Villanueva Cisneros, 52, and Fernando Villanueva Alvarado, 55, both died in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning at 68th Avenue and Grant Street in Mecca.
The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. on March 7th near the intersection in Riverside County, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
CHP officials reported a northbound driver in a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck collided with a westbound black Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling on 68th Avenue.
There is a stop sign for drivers traveling on Grant Street, but not for those traveling on 68th Avenue.
68th Avenue Crash in Mecca
The Tacoma collided with the Tundra, causing that vehicle to overturned and crash into a power pole, police said. Both the man and a woman inside the Tundra suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old man who was driving the Tacoma survived with minor injuries from the crash, police said.
One report indicated the pole hit by the pickup truck remained upright.
Investigators working on the cause of the Mecca crash on 68th Avenue, but do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were a factor.
The man and woman were later identified as Mecca residents Yolanda Villanueva Cisneros and Fernando Villanueva Alvarado.
