Two Fatally Injured in Solo-Vehicle Winnetka Crash
WINNETKA, Calif. (July 28, 2026) — A driver and passenger both died early Tuesday when a white sedan crashed into a light pole on Parthenia Street in the Winnetka area of the San Fernando Valley.
The solo-vehicle crash occurred around 2 a.m. on July 28th at 20527 W. Parthenia Street, near Mason Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene and used hydraulic tools known as the Jaws of Life to free two people trapped in the wreckage as the vehicle was wrapped around the pole. Also, the car’s engine was ejected and landed next to the vehicle.
One person suffered severe injuries and died at the scene, and the second person died at a hospital, fire officials said. Authorities have not released the names of the people who died.
Meanwhile, detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Division are investigating the crash and believe the driver was speeding before the vehicle crashed into the city light pole.
