2 Dead in Caruthers Car Accident at Walnut and Elkhorn
CARUTHERS, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2018) — Augustin Sanzon Flores and Marcos Gonzalez Silvestre, both 19 years old, died when their vehicle crashed into an almond tree Sunday afternoon, just outside of Caruthers, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision took place about 6 p.m. The two men were riding in a vehicle traveling on Walnut Avenue, just north of Elkhorn Avenue. The driver lost control and crashed into an almond tree on the shoulder.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Caruthers Crash Investigation
The collision remains under investigation by police to determine fault. The driver is likely to be held accountable, but it’s unknown if there are other responsible parties such as an employer or if a mechanical condition or dangerous road contributed to the crash.
