Two Motorcyclists Injured in Crash on Highway 29 Near Old Lawley Toll Road
CALISTOGA, Calif. (June 4, 2026) — Two motorcyclists were injured in a crash involving multiple vehicles early Thursday morning along Highway 29 near Old Lawley Toll Road in Calistoga, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was first reported at approximately 5:53 a.m. on June 4 on southbound State Route 29 just north of Old Lawley Toll Road, near the summit area of Mount St. Helena.
Initial emergency reports described a motorcycle collision involving a gray sedan, with callers indicating two motorcycles were down in the roadway and riders were injured. Multiple motorists reportedly stopped to assist at the scene.
CHP dispatch logs indicated the crash may have involved as many as three vehicles, with one motorcycle blocking the northbound lane and another rider reportedly lying on the shoulder of the highway. Early reports also suggested the collision may have been head-on.
Emergency responders were alerted to the incident through an Apple satellite emergency message from a person outside cellular service coverage. The reporting party stated there had been “a motorcycle crash” near the St. Helena mountain area, later describing the location as near Robertson Stevenson Park and involving “2 bikes.”
Authorities also received reports that one of the riders had not been wearing a helmet or that the helmet had come off, and that an air ambulance might be needed.
By approximately 6:51 a.m., CHP reported one motorcycle rider had been transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, while another was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital. Officials said the extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
The roadway reopened around 6:53 a.m., though tow trucks were later requested for both motorcycles.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and CHP has not released additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the collision.
