Major Injury Car Accident on SR-88 in Amador County

JACKSON, Calif. (August 20, 2026) — A two-vehicle collision involving major injuries happened Thursday morning in Jackson on Highway 88 near Rossbridge Road in Amador County, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch information.

The crash was reported on August 20th at approximately 9:49 a.m. on Carson Pass Highway (SR-88), just east of the Jackson Rancheria General Store & Gas Station, the CHP report said. Initial reports indicated that one of the vehicles was lying on its side, while both vehicles were described as pickup trucks.

Both lanes of Highway 88 were blocked following the collision as emergency crews responded. Tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles, including one that was reported to be on its side.

Emergency Crews Respond to Jackson Crash

CHP subsequently upgraded the incident from a traffic collision with an ambulance en route to a major-injury collision at about 11:55 a.m. At least one person was hospitalized, but there is no further information.

The roadway was reported open by approximately 11:42 a.m., after crews cleared the wreckage and vehicles from the highway.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
