Tesla Hits Toyota SUV Head-on in Crash on Vineyard Avenue (SR-232)

OXNARD, Calif. (June 5, 2026) — Two Ventura County residents suffered major injuries following a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver early June 1 on Vineyard Avenue (SR-232) in Oxnard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred on State Route 232, just east of Perello Ranch Road, where investigators say a Tesla sedan traveling along the roadway crossed into opposing traffic and slammed head-on into an approaching Toyota SUV.

Emergency crews extricated both drivers from the wreckage before they were transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities stated the Tesla driver was a 32-year-old Oxnard resident, and the Toyota driver was a 33-year-old from Camarillo. Their names have not been released.

Investigators said impairment does not appear to have played a role in the crash, though the exact cause remains under investigation.
