Three Teens Seriously Injured in Deadly Crash

Two Teens Killed in Crash on Scott Road in Sloughhouse, Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2026) — Two teenage girls died early Sunday, three others were badly injured when a car occupied by five teenagers crashed into a tree on Scott Road in Sloughhouse.

Ariyonna Orozco, 16, was driving a 2023 BMW X4 with four teenage passengers when the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree, just west of the Deer Creek Hills Nature Preserve.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the single-vehicle collision around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 18th, north of Latrobe Road where they found the mangled vehicle on fire and crashed into a tree.

Two of the five occupants, including the driver and 14-year-old Piper Conkling of Wilton who was in the front passenger seat, both died following the crash. The Elk Grove Unified School District confirmed that four of the teenagers were current students and one was a former student at district schools. Three of the injured victims are students at Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our thoughts are with the teens’ families, friends, classmates, and all those affected,” the school district said in a statement.

The California Highway Patrol stated two boys and a girl, who were ages 16 and 15 years old, were pulled from the backseat of the burning vehicle when other drivers stopped to help them. All three were transported to hospitals with moderate to major injuries. Two of these victims were also students in the EGUSD, authorities said.

Preliminary results from the investigation determined that speed was a factor in the crash, but it’s unknown if drugs and or alcohol were involved at this time.
