Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 101 Near Monterey Road | Paso Robles
PASO ROBLES, Calif., April 28, 2025 — A major injury traffic collision involving two vehicles caused significant delays Monday morning on northbound U.S. Highway 101 at Monterey Road near Paso Robles, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Highway 101 Major Injury Crash
The accident occurred at approximately 8:24 a.m. on April 28th and involved a black Chevrolet Traverse and a black or silver Honda sedan. The collision blocked both northbound lanes of Highway 101, as well as the left-hand turn lane at nearby Stockdale Road.
Initially reported as a minor injury incident, CHP officers quickly reclassified it as a major injury collision following assessments at the scene. Emergency responders dispatched two tow trucks from Johnboys Tow and Alliance Towing to assist in clearing the roadway.
A passing motorist noted that traffic was temporarily able to bypass the scene using the right-hand shoulder.
Traffic Impact and Emergency Response
By 8:31 a.m., authorities reported that vehicles were being cleared from the lanes, but congestion continued through the mid-morning hours. The Honda involved suffered a blown left tire, while both vehicles sustained significant damage.
The exact nature and extent of the injuries have not yet been released by officials.
CHP Investigation Ongoing After US-101 Accident
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP Templeton Area office. Investigators have not ruled out speed, distracted driving, or other contributing factors.
Motorists traveling through the Paso Robles area are advised to drive with caution, especially along busy sections of U.S. Highway 101 where morning traffic can be heavy.
