Bakersfield Collision Causes Major Delays on SR-58
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 6, 2025) — A traffic collision involving two vehicles in Bakersfield caused significant delays on westbound State Route 58 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard off-ramp on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on August 6th shortly after 12:20 p.m. involving a green Dodge Charger with major rear-end damage and a tan vehicle with severe front-end damage, authorities said.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene after the incident was upgraded from a collision with unknown injuries to one requiring medical response. CHP officers, along with fire personnel, responded to assess the situation and provide aid.
Tow trucks from Golden Empire Towing were called to remove both vehicles, which were blocking the center divider and contributing to traffic congestion.
As of early afternoon, there was no immediate information available on the number of people injured or the cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and motorists were advised to avoid the area or expect delays while crews cleared the scene.
Updates on the Highway 58 crash in Bakersfield will be provided as more details become available.
