Two-Vehicle Crash on Cabrillo Highway 1, Molera Road in Monterey County

MONTEREY, Calif., (June 30, 2026) — A minor injury crash involving a black Tesla and a silver Toyota minivan occurred on Highway 1 South, near Molera Road in Nashua, just south of Castroville.

The incident was reported on June 29th to authorities at approximately 5:23 p.m. in front of the Thistle Hut, according to the California Highway Patrol. Responding officers found both vehicles blocking the southbound lanes, with the black Tesla reportedly emitting smoke.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist those involved in the collision. The driver of the Tesla was reportedly breathing heavily but was not transported to a hospital. The collision led to temporary closures of both the southbound and northbound lanes.

The vehicles were cleared from the roadway with assistance from CA Tow and Salinas Auto Center. The black Tesla sustained significant damage, requiring a tow, while the silver Toyota minivan was also involved but the extent of its damage was not specified.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision and request any witnesses to come forward with information to assist in their ongoing investigation.
