Traffic Collision on State Route 70 Near Quincy, Plumas County

PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif., (June 30, 2026) — An early morning traffic collision on eastbound State Route 70 left at least one person injured, just east of Frenchman Lake Road in the Chilcoot area of Plumas County.

The incident occurred near mile marker 94.5 on June 30th at approximately 6:43 a.m. and involved a silver Nissan Altima and a silver GMC Sierra. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision resulted in major damage to the rear of the Nissan Altima, and debris was scattered across the roadway. Fire and medical personnel were dispatched and arrived on the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

Emergency responders from Portola arrived at the scene around 7:01 a.m. The individual inside the Nissan Altima, described as a female, reportedly complained of internal pain, although no visible injuries were initially observed. The GMC Sierra’s condition following the collision was not detailed in the available information.

The California Highway Patrol and local authorities are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash and are urging any witnesses to come forward with information.
