Two-Vehicle Crash Valpredo Road, Mettler Frontage Road in Bakersfield

Two Vans Collide at Highway 99 Entrance in South Bakersfield
KERN COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2026) — At least one person was injured in a crash early Wednesday morning at Valpredo Road and Mettler Frontage Road West, in south Bakersfield near southbound State Route 99, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was first reported on Jan. 7th at approximately 6:12 a.m. and involved a gray van and a white van. CHP logs indicate the vehicles were blocking lanes in the intersection, prompting a response from fire and medical personnel.
Shortly after the initial report, a party in a gray Toyota SUV advised dispatchers that there were injuries and then stopped responding to questions, raising concerns about the severity of the crash. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 6:31 a.m., with reports indicating the collision occurred within the intersection and that at least one vehicle was possibly on fire.
By 6:35 a.m., CHP reported that the crash was blocking the southbound on-ramp to Highway 99. A tow rotation was requested, and emergency crews worked to clear the roadway.
One patient was later transported to Kern Medical Center, according to CHP activity logs. The extent of injuries has not been confirmed.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
