Two-Vehicle Sun Valley Car Accident on North Arleta Avenue
Two Suffer Minor Injuries in Crash Near School in Sun Valley
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2025) – Two people were injured Tuesday morning in a car accident on North Arleta Avenue near Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley.
One of the two vehicles involved overturned onto its side during the collision around 7:04 a.m. on Feb. 18th, just north of Roscoe Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the crash scene in front of 8500 N. Arleta Ave., the report said. All vehicle occupants had exited their vehicles on their own.
The LAFD transported two people with minor injuries in fair condition to a hospital and a 49-year-old woman was treated and released at the scene.
Los Angeles Police Department investigators are working with school police and will determine fault for the car accident on N. Arleta Avenue in Sun Valley.
“School zones can be dangerous in the mornings and afternoons with parents dropping off their students and picking them up,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Speed, distractions, and inexperienced drivers compound the situation.”
According to a 2024 survey by the National Center for Education Statistics School Pulse Panel, school principals and leaders believe that traffic patterns around their buildings threaten student safety.
Schools can make changes to make their property safer by installing speed bumps, marked crosswalks, bike lanes, and hiring crossing guards.
However, it’s up to parents and student drivers to slow down and cities to ensure there are adequate sidewalks and police patrols to protect public safety.
