FREMONT, Calif. (August 25, 2023) — A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed Thursday in a business center parking lot on Mowry Avenue in Fremont.

A driver in an SUV struck the child due to unknown circumstances around 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 24th in the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue, according to East Bay Times.

The child was later identified by the coroner’s office as Leonid Grigorev of Fremont.

A driver in the SUV struck the boy under unknown circumstances and stopped to await police and paramedics.

Fremont firefighters treated the child before transporting him to a hospital, but he later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities say this is Fremont’s seventh fatal traffic collision in 2023.

Witnesses may contact Officer J. Shannon with the traffic unit at 510-790-6760.
