Tyler Williams, 22, ID’d as Suspect in Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run Crash on 91 Freeway
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (January 25, 2022) – Authorities detained Tyler Williams after a DUI hit-and-run crash on the 91 Freeway on the Anaheim-Fullerton border.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 22-year-old Riverside man was under the influence of alcohol when the wreck occurred.
The incident happened when Tyler Christian Williams was driving a 2013 Lincoln west on the 91 Freeway. CHP said he then struck a 2004 Ford which rolled over in the process.
He did not stop to render aid, continued west and then slammed into a 2012 Toyota. The cars crashed west of Brookhurst Street.
1 Killed in Wreck
The Orange County Register and My News LA wrote that the accident took place on Sunday, January 23. The driver of the Ford ended up suffering from serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where they died. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP arrested Tyler Williams for felony counts of DUI causing injury and hit-and-run with permanent and serious injury.
They charged him with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 percent. His charges includes misdemeanor for driving on a suspended license.
The suspect faces sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury. Meanwhile, the wreck is still under investigation.
