
Pedestrian Killed in Car Accident Identified
Escondido, Calif. (May 17, 2023) – Ulyses Leyba, 32, of Escondido, died in a pedestrian accident at West 9th Avenue and West Valley Parkway.
The collision occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 7th, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
A driver in a 2010 Mazda CX9 struck the Escondido man at the intersection as he attempted to cross West Valley Parkway outside of a crosswalk, according to ABC10 and San Diego Union-Tribune News.
Paramedics responded and located the pedestrian lying on the ground. They transported Ulyses Leyba by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center Emergency Department where he later died.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mazda stopped and cooperated with authorities and the investigation.
The Escondido Police Department is heading up the investigation into fault for the pedestrian accident.
