2 Killed in Union City Crash on Whipple Road Near Central Avenue
UNION CITY, CA (November 7, 2021) – A head-on crash killed two people on Whipple Road near Central Avenue in Union City.
According to an article published by the East Bay Times, the tragic accident took place late Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 5:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a red Acura TL was going east on Whipple Road, west of Central Avenue, in Union City. At the same time, a dark-colored Honda Pilot was traveling west.
Police said for an unknown reason the two cars collided head-on. Both obtained significant damage as a result of the collision.
2 Cars Collide Head-On
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then pronounced the driver of the Acura dead at the scene. The motorist in Honda sustained serious injuries due to the impact.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital, where they died. The names of the deceased parties have not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police forced the lanes of Whipple Road to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Union City crash is still under investigation.
