Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Upland Crash on 210 Freeway Near Mountain Avenue

UPLAND, CA (August 12, 2021) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a crash on the 210 Freeway near Mountain Avenue in Upland.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the accident took place on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 2:16 p.m.

CHP said the motorcycle rider collided with the rear of a white van for an unknown reason in Upland. The two crashed on the westbound side of the 210 Freeway, just east of Mountain Avenue.

The motorcycle then caught fire upon impact. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the rider down in the carpool lane as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel soon took the patient to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. Officials did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.

Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the van ended up hurt or if they stopped following the wreck. Officers forced the westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway to shut down for about an hour after the collision.

Authorities are still determining the cause of the Upland crash.
