UPPER LAKE: Fatal Car Crash on Nice-Lucerne Cutoff near Lakeport; James McDonald Victim
UPPER LAKE (December 22, 2016)- According to the Lake County News, a man identified as James McDonald, 65, of Lucerne, was the victim fatally injured in a collision Wednesday on Nice-Lucerne Cutoff near Westlake Drive.
The accident was reported at 2:45 p.m. involving a 2001 Dodge and a 2000 Toyota.
The driver of the Dodge, a 63-year-old woman of Lakeport, had been heading westbound before veering into eastbound lanes into the path of the Toyota driven by James McDonald triggering a serious crash.
The Toyota overturned tragically causing fatal injuries to McDonald while leaving his 60-year-old woman passenger, also of Lucerne, in serious condition as she was flown to a trauma center.
Per the Lake County News, the woman driving the Dodge was miraculously uninjured.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision and has determined that neither drugs nor alcohol was to blame.
