UPS Truck Driver Steve Krueger, 61, Victim in Santee Fatal Plane Crash
SANTEE, CA (October 12, 2021) – Steve Krueger, a UPS truck driver, was killed after a plane crash in Santee.
Family members identified the 61-year-old man as one of the victims in the fatal incident which occurred on Monday afternoon.
The incident began when Steve Krueger was in his UPS truck in Santee near Greencastle and Jeremy streets. At the same time, Sugata Das was operating a twin-engine Cessna C340.
For an unknown reason, the small plane crashed and hit the UPS truck and multiple homes in the Santee neighborhood. The accident took place on October 11 at around 12:15 p.m.
Plane Crashes, Hits House and Truck
Officers determined that the aircraft left Yuma, Arizona to go to the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Field in Kearny Mesa when it nosedived into the area. Two houses ended up burned.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene, east of the Santana High School. Both Steve Krueger and Sugata Das died as a result of the plane crash.
A couple in one of the homes struck by the plane sustained burns following the incident. Medical personnel rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News classified the pilot as a doctor at the Yuma Regional Medical Center. Meanwhile, the cause of the Santee plane crash is still under investigation.
