Guard Fatally Struck by DUI Driver at Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue
Anaheim, CA (December 4, 2021) – On January 6, Uriel Hernandez Gonzalez died following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Katella Avenue.
The Orange County Register News reported an intoxicated driver ran a red light at the Anaheim intersection; and struck a man waking southbound in a crosswalk. Authorities confirmed the identity of the victim as Uriel Gonzalez. Per article published online, the pedestrian was wearing a security guard uniform when the collision happened.

Shortly after 1:15 a.m., paramedics arrived at the crash site. First responders found Uriel Gonzalez lying down on the ground. Paramedics attempted to save the victim, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died.
Meanwhile, investigators later confirmed the driver of the white Astro van was intoxicated during the catastrophic incident. Police then arrested the man on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated; driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury; and driving with a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit or more causing injury.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
