Pablo Barba, 67, Catalina Barba, 69, Killed in Crash with Wrong-Way Driver, Samantha Pena, 24
MADERA, Calif. (July 30, 2018) — Valentin Barba, 26, and two boys, ages 12 and 13, suffered major injuries Sunday morning in a collision that killed three other people on Highway 99.
Police say Samantha Pena, 24, of Fresno, was driving the wrong way in a 2010 Toyota Corolla on the southbound side of the highway and crashed into a 2006 Ford Explorer occupied by five family members.
The collision took place about 3 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Pablo Barba, 67, who was driving the Ford, and Catalina Barba, 69, both of Orange Cove, died in the crash along with Pena. Catalina Barba had been in the back middle seat of the vehicle. All occupants of the Ford were wearing their seat belts.
