VALLE VISTA, California (March 14, 2016) — Thelma Hamilton, 56, was killed Saturday night when she was struck by a driver at the intersection of New Chicago and Florida avenues, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash was reported at 6:20 p.m. Police say the woman was wearing black clothing making it difficult for driver Asa Graham, 23, to see her. Graham’s Chevrolet truck struck the woman as she walked from the south to the north side of Florida Avenue. The truck had been traveling westbound on New Chicago Avenue.
Preliminary investigation results indicate that Hamilton may have walked in front of the vehicle. Police are looking into whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but there have been no arrests made at this time.
