VALLEJO, California (September 29, 2016) — A motorcyclist identified as San Pablo Police Officer Ken Zink, 53, of Dixon, was killed early Thursday morning in a collision with a big rig truck on the eastbound Interstate 80 Freeway, just south of the Redwood Parkway off-ramp a California Highway Patrol report said.
The fatal crash took place about 6:28 a.m. Thursday morning.
Zink was riding a Harley Davidson and initially collided with a Nissan pickup. The collision caused Zink to become ejected and directly into the path of an 18-wheeler, the report said.
The 53-year-old man was found stuck underneath the truck and was pulled out by firefighters. It was confirmed the Zink had sadly suffered fatal injuries.
Police issued a SigAlert as the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes were blocked due to the fatal crash.
California Highway Patrol official will be handling the investigation.
