VALLEJO, California — An elderly woman only sustained injuries as a result of a collision involving a big rig on Interstate 80 freeway near Georgia Street, according to an article by East Bay Times.
As per the report, the crash occurred on December 8 at approximately 10 a.m.
Preliminary investigation claimed a blue Dodge Dakota truck, driven by a 54-year-old Vallejo woman, took the 80 freeway onramp near Georgia Street. Then, the truck collided with the front end of a white Peterbilt big rig, driven by a 62-year-old man from Antigua.
Consequently, the big rig veered into the left lane and smashed into the a white Scion tC car occupied by a 70-year-old woman.
Officers said the elderly woman was lucky, because the trailer part of the big rig tore off from the impact and landed on top of her vehicle.
Emergency crews immediately responded to the site and provided treatment to the elderly and two other drivers of the involved vehicles. The hurt parties only sustained injuries of minor to moderate severity.
Due to the cause of the accident remain unclear, investigation is ongoing.
