VAN NUYS, California (March 13, 2017) — Vahan Khachatryan, 84, was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on Burbank Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The collision took place about 11:35 p.m. last night, between Tyrone and Sylmar avenues. The driver fled the scene of the crash without stopping to render care to the injured man believed to be about 80 years old. Police say the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time he was struck by the suspect in the westbound No. 2 lane. Paramedics responded and transported the injured man to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light-colored silver, 4-door sedan similar to a Honda Civic. The vehicle will likely have front-end damage.
