VAN NUYS, California (July 31, 2014) — A driver suspected of being under the influence of marijuana allegedly ran through a red traffic light Thursday morning and hit another driver broadside in the 13300 block of Chandler Boulevard near Fulton Avenue, according to news reports.
Both drivers were injured in the 7:15 a.m. collision and taken by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police found empty containers for cannabis stored in the glove box of the driver who is suspected of causing the crash, as well as 10 credit cards in different names and $2,000 in cash.
Police plan to test the driver to determine if he was driving under the influence of any substance during the crash.
“Hopefully all those hurt in this crash have a full recovery,” said Attorney James Johnson.
