Olivia Enriquez West and Leland West Killed in Sun Valley Car Accident
SUN VALLEY (April 15, 2019) – One of the drivers involved in an alleged street racing hit-and-run crash at San Fernando Road and Lankershim Boulevard in Sun Valley Friday has been arrested.
Police said 25-year-old Vanessa Jaramillo was arrested on suspicion of murder after the tragic collision which took place on April 12 at about 7:10 p.m.
According to reports by Los Angeles Daily News and KTLA, the incident began when Jaramillo was driving a 2015 white Dodge Charger at a high rate of speed east on San Fernando Road.
The Pacoima woman was possibly racing a dark-colored Dodge Charger, when she then broadsided the Toyota Corolla.
2 Injured in Crash at San Fernando and Lankershim
The Corolla occupied by 59-year-old Sun Valley resident Olivia Enriquez West and her husband, Leland West, was making a left turn from San Fernando Road to Lankershim Boulevard when it was hit by the Charger.
Fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the site and pronounced Olivia and Leland dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Jaramillo and her female passenger were taken to the hospital with severe injuries. A third occupant of the same car was hospitalized for minor wounds and later released.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other Charger failed to stop after the wreck and left the site. The incident remains under investigation.
