Ventura County Fatal Head-On Crash Pacific Coast Highway Mugu Rock

1 Killed, 4 Injured in Pacific Coast Highway Crash Near Mugu Rock

VENTURA COUNTY, CA (March 7, 2023) – A crash killed one person and injured several others on Pacific Coast Highway near Mugu Rock in Ventura County.

According to The Ventura County Star and KVTA News, the tragic accident took place early Tuesday. Officers reported the wreck on March 7 at around 12:20 a.m. 

The incident began when a white 2010 BMW 528i was going south on Pacific Coast Highway near Mugu Rock in Ventura County. At the same time, a black 2004 GMC Envoy SUV was traveling north.

For an unknown reason, the BMW drove into the northbound lane. The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the car slammed head-on into the GMC.

2 Cars Collide

Firefighters soon arrived at the scene and found a total of five people hurt. One of them, the 32-year-old Oxnard man driving the BMW, sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver of the Envoy, a 32-year-old Oxnard man, survived with a minor injury. Paramedics rushed the two patients to the Ventura County Medical Center, where the motorist who caused the wreck died.

The three passengers in the GMC SUV, all 25-year-old men from Oxnard, suffered minor to major injuries upon impact. Medical personnel took them to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway to shut down near Mugu Rock following the wreck.

The cause of the fatal Ventura County crash is still under investigation.
