CHP Officer Injured After Collision on Highway 101 Monday
Ventura, CA (October 4, 2021) – A California Highway Patrol officer suffered injuries following a suspected DUI car crash tat occurred on Highway 101, the KEYT News reported.
Officials said a 35-year-old Irvine man was behind the wheel of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler heading south on SR-101. When the vehicle approached the Seaward Avenue, the driver reportedly veered into the right shoulder to pass a slower commute traffic.
According to the article published online, an on-duty CHP officer approached the Jeep splitting lanes. Given that, the deputy turned on his overhead emergency lights to warn the driver.
Our sources indicated the driver of the Jeep swerved to the left and struck the police vehicle. The collision took place at about 5:50 p.m.
The force from the impact resulted in minor injuries to the CHP officer. Responding paramedics reportedly transported the patient to a medical facility for treatment.
DUI Suspect Arrested After Car Crash in Ventura, October 4
Meanwhile, police reportedly arrested the 35-year-old Irvine man driving the Jeep. The suspect was eventually booked at the Ventura County Jail for driving under the influence.
