Man in Wheelchair Injured in Ventura Hit-and-run Pedestrian Accident
VENTURA, Calif. (March 15, 2019) — A 64-year-old man in a wheelchair was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday night in a crosswalk at a Ventura intersection.
The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Garden Street and West Main Street. The pedestrian was crossing Main Street when he was struck by the car turning left from Garden Street.
Police stated that the suspected hit-and-run driver in a black 2-door sedan left the injured man in a street. The victim was found lying in the crosswalk where he was conscious and complained of pain from moderate injuries, the Ventura Police Department said. The pedestrian’s wheelchair was destroyed in the crash.
Paramedics treated the victim for non-life-threatening injuries.
