Woman Killed, 6 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 Freeway
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 28, 2021) – Veronica Aguirre Jaimes, 67, died and six were injured in a Christmas Eve collision on the Interstate 5 Freeway at Stadium Way in Elysian Park near Dodger Stadium.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim on their website as the person who died in the collision about 8:07 a.m. on Dec. 24th on the Golden State Freeway.
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the collision involving two big rig trucks in southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Freeway at Stadium Way. according the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Veronica Jaimes was driving a 2002 Toyota Matrix southbound on the I-5 Freeway in the Elysian Park. The Toyota spun out of control due to unknown reasons and collided with multiple vehicles.
At least six vehicles collided on the freeway and several others suffered injuries in the collision. Veronica Jaimes suffered traumatic injuries and died at the scene.
One person became trapped in the wreckage and firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free them. Paramedics transported the person to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Also, the report stated paramedics took a 29-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl to hospitals in unknown condition.
Meanwhile, four other people injured in the crash did not seek medical assistance on scene.
Finally, investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
