Veronica Moran Killed in San Diego Pedestrian Accident on I-5 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (July 20, 2026) — Veronica Moran, 20, of San Diego, died last Wednesday when she was struck by a motorist while standing near a disabled Infiniti on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Washington Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The incident occurred on July 15th at approximately 1:12 a.m., between two vehicles and a pedestrian. Initial reports indicate a disabled Infiniti was on the right-hand shoulder, and the other was in the center divider. Emergency response teams, including police and paramedics, arrived swiftly on the scene after the incident was reported.
Authorities say Veronica Moran was a passenger in the disabled Infiniti who exited the vehicle and was standing nearby. A driver in an SUV struck the victim, leaving her severely injured. Unfortunately, despite paramedics’ efforts, the young woman died from her injuries at the scene.
Authorities closed several lanes on I-5 southbound from Old Town to Sassafras Street to manage the situation and conduct an investigation. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the crash and has urged any witnesses to come forward with information.
