Vicenta Martinez De Garcia, 70, Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on H Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 19, 2022) – Vicenta Martinez De Garcia was killed after a pedestrian crash on H Street in Bakersfield.
The coroner’s office identified the 70-year-old woman as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Saturday night.
The incident happened when Vicenta Martinez De Garcia was crossing South H Street near Isil Avenue in the city of Bakersfield. Police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck her.
Victim Hit by Vehicle
Vicenta Martinez De Garcia sustained major injuries as a result of the pedestrian accident. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found her down on the ground.
Medical personnel rushed the woman to a hospital, where she died. The Bakersfield Now and Kern Golden Empire wrote that the incident occurred on April 16 shortly before 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, police added that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim. Officers forced a stretch of South H Street to shut down for a time following the collision.
The cause of the Bakersfield pedestrian crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the BPD at 661-327-7111.
