Hit-and-Run Suspect in Bakersfield Crash ID’d as Vicente Rodriguez Ruiz
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 15, 2021) – Authorities identified Vicente Rodriguez Ruiz as the suspect in Bakersfield hit-and-run crash that badly injured a woman and a child.
The Kern Golden Empire and Bakersfield Now wrote that the accident took place earlier this month, on June 1, at around 10 a.m.
Bakersfield police said Vicente Rodriguez Ruiz struck the woman and a 3-year-old boy for an unknown reason. His vehicle hit the pedestrians at the intersection of Chester Avenue and 10th Street.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then found both victims hurt as a result of the collision. They took the patients to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

Authorities did not release their names and condition at this time. Meanwhile, police affirmed that Vicente Rodriguez Ruiz did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
Officers described him as a Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He frequents businesses in the 2100 block of Edison Highway and may be fleeing to Mexico.
Police classified the car involved as a gray or blue, 2000’s model Honda 4-door. The Bakersfield hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
Ruiz is wanted on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in injuries, being an unlicensed driver and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Anyone with information can call the police at (661) 326-3967.
