DUI Driver Arrested After Chula Vista Crash on Interstate 805 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2018) — A suspected drunken driver caused a collision that killed a man on the Interstate 805 Freeway late last night in Chula Vista, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.
UPDATE: The victim was identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office as Victor Hugo Becerra Guevara, 55.
The collision was reported in the northbound lanes near Bonita Road about 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday night. The suspect was traveling northbound on the I-805 when they crashed into a pickup truck. The truck then crashed into a dump truck in a Caltrans construction zone.
Paramedics responded and rushed the pickup truck driver identified as Guevara to a hospital, but sadly he died of his injuries.
Police arrested the suspected DUI driver at the scene following the collision.
Police are reviewing all the evidence and will determine what charges will be filed against the suspected DUI driver.
