COTTONWOOD, Calif. (May 26, 2021) — Victoria McDaniel, 27, was arrested following a fatal Cottonwood hit-and-run crash on Gas Point Road that killed a man riding a bicycle.

The Cottonwood woman fled the scene of the deadly hit-and-run crash just east of Happy Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver reportedly fled the scene of the 11 a.m. crash on May 24th. She allegedly struck a bicyclist riding along Gas Point Road.

Also, authorities located the severely injured man on the side of the road. Shortly after, the man died at the scene.

Victoria McDaniel was driving the red 1998 Dodge Ram involved in the Cottonwood crash.

Police arrested her about 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26th. She remains at the Shasta County Jail. She is charged with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor manslaughter charges.

Finally, the name of the man who died in the crash is unknown at this time pending notification of his relatives.
