Moreno Valley Man Killed in Car Accident

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (September 6, 2023) — Victoriano Ruiz Esparza, 79, of Moreno Valley, died Friday in a pedestrian accident on Ironwood Avenue, just west of Heacock Street in Moreno Valley.

The deadly crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Sept. 1st, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Police officials reported deputies with the Moreno Valley Station were alerted to the traffic collision on Ironwood Avenue and there was a request for paramedics.

CalFire sent firefighters and paramedics to the scene and they located a severely-injured man lying in the roadway.

A westbound vehicle hit the man as he reportedly stepped into the roadway. Despite efforts to save his life, Victoriano Ruiz Esparza died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and remained at the scene.

The Moreno Valley Traffic Investigations Team is heading up the investigation.
