Omar Maya, 22, Arrested on DUI Charges
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (August 24, 2023) — A woman and child were seriously injured Wednesday night in a Victorville crash on Silica Drive near Seventh Avenue involving a suspected DUI driver.
Omar Maya, 22, of Victorville, was arrested after the collision on driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
Authorities reported the crash around 8:30 p.m. on August 23rd after the Victorville man crashed into a vehicle occupied by two adults and two children.
The Victorville Fire Department responded to the scene where the black Honda sedan had reportedly rear-ended the silver Nissan sedan.
Firefighters freed at least one person inside the silver sedan and discovered two people with major injuries. They requested an air ambulance to transport the injured woman to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Meanwhile, a second helicopter transported the injured child from a landing zone at Desert Valley Hospital to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Also, the adult male and the second child suffered minor injuries, but declined medical transportation at the scene.
Finally, the driver identified as Omar Maya was arrested for DUI and was held in lieu of $250,000 bail pending his scheduled August 25th arraignment in a Victorville courtroom.
The case remains under investigation.
