Driver Hospitalized after Head-on Crash in Victorville
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2018) — A man was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday morning following a head-on collision with a disposal truck.
The crash took place about 6:37 am, at National Trails Highway and Air Expressway.
The driver of a black Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling northbound on Air Expressway and attempted to turn right onto National Trails Highway. Instead, it collided with a Victorville City Burrtec truck that was heading westbound.
For unknown reasons, the driver in the Eclipse allegedly crossed over the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into the Burrtec truck. The truck driver was slowing down to make a left turn.
Police closed down the intersection following the crash that left the Eclipse wedged underneath the disposal truck. The driver was left trapped in his vehicle.
Firefighters extricated the man and he was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The crash is under investigation by the Victorville Police Department.
